킴킴 갤러리는 누구인가?
킴킴 갤러리는 미술을 심화, 명백화, 조직화해 관객에게 단축형으로 전달하는 적응력 있는 기구이며, 연속적으로 변화형인 작품이기도 하다. 미술의 뜻을 확장한다는 생각으로 갤러리라는 개념을 이용하는데, 종종 요구가 많은 상황에 미술을 적응시키는 접근을 한다.
왜 로버트 에스터만인가?
에스터만은 드물게도 모방, 가공되고, 기회를 포착하는 작가군과는 반대인, 타고난 예술가이다. 그는 아름다운 작품을 한다.
왜 코너아트스페이스인가?
코너아트스페이스는 성형외과 한쪽을 점유한 작고 독특한 공간이다.
작가와 킴킴 갤러리는 “점토 컬렉션과 사색적인 차원(면)” 작품을 화려한 서울 강남의 새 예술공간을 염두에 두고 옮겨낸다. 에스터만의 미술은 대중이 진정 필요로 하나, 뻔하지 않고, 극단적으로 창의적이어서 (관객이) 상상해보지 못한 종류이다. “유일무이”는 막다른 곳에서 나온 사려 깊은 작품이다.
왜 유일무이인가?
킴킴 갤러리는 “점토 컬렉션과 사색적인 차원(면)”을 개조, 재해석해 리메이크한다는 아이디어로 이 전시를 시작했다. 이 작품은 창의적인 추측, 재발명, 경제적 거래 등의 메타포들로 엉켜있다. 독특한 것을 뜻하는 “유일무이”는 독창성에 주안점을 두는데, 실제로는 그렇지않은 유일무이함을 보여준다는 것은 역설이다.

Why Kim Kim Gallery does it?
KKG sees itself as an ever-changing art work, a malleable tool to intensify, clarify, methodize or short to deliver the artists work. KKG uses the concept of the gallery as a part of the enlarged notion of art. KKG is a curatorial approach, which often adapts art work to demanding conditions.
Why Robert Estermann?
RE represents an exceptional rarity, he is a naturalist, being the very opposite to the manufactured, mimetic, slot-artist. RE produces beautiful works.
Why Corner Art Space?
Corner Art Space occupies charmingly peculiar and small space in a clinic building.
RE and KKG translate Clay Collection and Speculative Plane into a unique work at a new art space in a rather posh spot of Seoul.
RE produces art work the public really needs and never could have possibly thought of because it is the least obvious and thus the most creative. Pièce Unique is a thoughtful work in a perfect dead stop.
Why Pièce Unique?
KKG started with the idea of remaking RE’s former work, a modified, adapted and translated version of Clay Collection and Speculative Plane. The work entwines the metaphor of creative speculation, reinvention and economic trade. Pièce Unique meaning one of a kind, put an emphasis on originality. Showing a Pièce Unique which actually is not, is a paradox.
