The artist Heimo Zobernig has been commissioned for a new cafélocated in the LUMA Westbau, part of the Löwenbräu arts complex in Zurich, at Limmatstrasse 270. schwarzescafé is a coffee house and a bar with an interior by Zobernig, it is a lecture hall, a place for concerts, a space for exhibitions, a reading room (hosting Kunsthalle Zurich’s library), and a terrace for smokers and people in need of fresh air.
Coinciding with Manifesta 11 in Zurich, schwarzescafé’s first phase is open to the public from 12 May – 18 September 2016.
schwarzescafé by Heimo Zobernig is organized by Fredi Fischli and Niels Olsen, in an ongoing collaboration with LUMA Foundation and gta exhibitions, ETH Zurich.
