Ghost Will Be Better, 2005, linoleum, paint, wood, jesmonite, 50 x 400 x 180 cm, first restoration in 2005, second restoration in 2016, The original plasticine part of work recast into jesmonite in 2022.
Ghost Will Be Better consists of a sentence “GHOST WILL BE BETTER” written in Gothic font and a jesmonite sculpture on wood patterned linoleum. It is difficult to imagine an impalpable ghost being “better”. It is a ridiculous situation in which a subject and verb do not match. However, the sculpture serves to bring the ghost into reality and this ‘sculptural moment’ becomes the instant where an infinite world and finite world collide. The sphere of the sculpture expands to that extent.
