German artist Ingo Baumgarten's solo exhibition will be held at Lim Soobin Gallery Buildings 1 and 2 from September 15th to October 13th. Ingo Baumgarten expresses the buildings he encounters in daily life by understanding not only their aesthetic aspects but also their social background. He explains the world surrounding him from a unique perspective while excluding attitudes that glorify or denigrate the subject. The artist uses painting, rather than photography, as a way to show his unique perspective to the audience, which allows the audience to immerse themselves more personally in the world of his work and appreciate it. The environment we live in is constantly changing. In particular, the city center undergoes constant change, such as tearing down old buildings and building new ones on top of them, and remodeling old buildings. However, the artist is interested in spaces that have not yet gone through this development process and retain their original appearance, and fills in the missing aspects he feels there in his paintings in his own way. The artist draws the design and structure of various buildings with the goal of realizing the ideal, but in reality, they exist as images that are completely different from the ideal. What it looks like in reality As time goes by, things become more distant from the ideal. In the process of actually expressing what you imagined, you often encounter results that feel quite different from what you imagined. At this time, compromises occur between the desired ideal and what can actually be expressed. There are numerous processes within the world of his works, and even within human life, and the act of connecting and controlling all of those processes is an essential structure. Just as the bridge between two different buildings in his painting serves to help people move between buildings, a work of art can also serve to connect the viewer and the artist. Backgrounds that we pass by because they are so ordinary and ordinary
are given new meaning when they meet the perspective of a foreign writer.
Through this exhibition, which presents familiar scenes such as Korean houses in an interesting way, we hope to look back on the ordinary surroundings and reflect on their meaning.
