BLESS N° 72 A year with ...
Born from the wish to collaborate with long-term friend and Japanese journalist Nakako Hayashi as part of her magazine Here and There, in 2004 BLESS together with Studio Manuel Raeder began the BLESS N° 23 lookbook collaborations.
Up until that point, the lookbooks or catalogues were always produced each season as separate in-house publications. With these new collaborations, BLESS started to work with like-minded magazine editors who share similar values, regardless of their field of expertise, and in doing so realised it was possible to double the reach of both audiences.
With each collaboration, the lookbook was made available in selected bookstores, as well as distributed for free to BLESS’s wholesale clients. As such, these shops were able to discover magazines that were previously unknown to them, and in a beautiful act of exchange, the magazine’s usual wider audience was also able to discover BLESS. These collaborations also enabled BLESS to focus not only on fashion, but on other forms of culture such as art, design, food, and music, all of which contribute to a broader vision of what constitutes seasonal fashion today. This captures a sense of the here and now, and what is relevant to BLESS in this very moment.
