Heritage Space proudly introduce BEYOND DESTRUCTION – the final exhibition of our annual contemporary international art exchange project called'Month of Art Practice – MAP 2019'. As the theme of the project Month of Art Practice, BEYOND DESTRUCTION kindles inspirations and rationales for the incipience of artists' interrogations and quests for the 'beyond' places, which can be in manifold space-time realities, the inner mind, and personal cognition . In addition, incipience here also institutes various, adverse or exquisite contemplation about'Destruction' hidden under implications and metaphors in real life, in unceasing transformations of mind, and in endless furious collisions of contemporary events reflecting history. BEYOND DESTRUCTION presents the art works of 15 artists from Japan, Korea, Switzerland, Germany, Myanmar, and Vietnam. They can be in different art forms: video, photography, performance, fine arts, installation, concepts, excerpts.


THE ARTISTS are: Aung Myat Htay (Myanmar), Aya Momose (Japan), Đặng Hồng Anh (Vietnam), Dương Nguyên Hoài Nam (Vietnam), Fuyuka Shindo (Japan), Hà Đào (Vietnam), Huệ Nguyễn (Vietnam), InYoung Yeo (Korea) )) ), Lê Đình Chung (Vietnam), Lê Quỳnh Trang (Vietnam), Nguyễn Hữu Hải Duy (Vietnam), Nguyễn L.Chi (Vietnam), Till Ansgar Baumhauer (Germany), Minja Gu (Korea), Quỳnh Đông ( Switland)). 

And THE EXPERTS are: Leeji Hong (Korea) / Li-heng Lee (Taiwan) / Pil Joo Jung (Korea) / Jennifer Vanderpool (United States) / Trần Trọng Vũ (Vietnam)


About MAP, founded by artist Trần Trọng Vũ, it aims to create an exchange and educational platform in Contemporary Art for young emerging Vietnamese artists with establish selected international artists around the world. The project also creates opportunities of interaction and dialogue between artists and communities, in order to improve the understanding and experiments in Contemporary Arts for normal people by series of public programs. By then, it is effort to remove the gap between new arts/ artists and society.

Heritage Space is a combination of an art gallery, a library, a concert hall, co-working office, residency space, artist studios and some open-stages, which has the capacity to host art exhibitions, music events, educational programs, multi- creative forms, artist-in-residency programs and others. Run by a group of curators, artists, researchers, musicians and architects, Heritage Space's mission is to become a HUB for individuals and groups working on multi-disciplines from both inside and outside of the country to support and develop the creative industries in Vietnam.

Heritage Space proudly present MAP-Talk 2: “FICTION of NARRATIVES” with presentations by artist Minja Gu (Korea), Đặng Hồng Anh (Vietnam), Quynh Dong (Switzerland) and Dương Nguyên Hoài Nam (Vietnam). The talk is going to be led by curator Pil Joo Jung from Korea. It is a part of the exchange activities in “Month of Art Practice – MAP 2019” by Heritage Space.

As part of the MAP 2019 with the theme “BEYOND DESTRUCTION”, MAP Talk 2 is a series of presentation and discussion about the process of practicing art by four artists:

Minja Gu will talk about 2-3 of her previous projects and on-going work for MAP 2019. Mostly her works are rather passive performances or acts conducted in a parallel manner through personal acts in their daily life under slightly different conditions or implications. They are documented via photographs or videos, and showcased through various media including drawings and writings. She will share with the audiences focusing on the meaning of the act of ‘documenting’ and the context in documented materials in exhibitions.
