리움미술관은 한국 대표 동시대미술 작가 김범의 최대 규모 서베이 전시 《바위가 되는 법》을 개최합니다. 13년 만의 국내 개인전이자 90년대부터 2010년대까지의 작품 세계를 포괄하는 이 전시는 초기 회화 작품부터 대표적인 설치 연작 및 최근 디자인 프로젝트 등 총 70여 점의 작품을 만날 수 있는 흔치 않은 기회입니다.
김범의 작품 세계는 보이는 것과 그 이면의 간격을 파고들어 새롭게 ‘보는 법’을 제안하며, 특유의 소박한 표현법과 덤덤한 유머로 현대사회에서 무의식적으로 받아들이는 상식에 도전합니다. 시청각적 자극이 범람하는 오늘날 매일 같이 속도전을 치르는 우리에게 《바위가 되는 법》은 수업을 듣는 사물과 바위가 되려는 인간, 어디론가 달려나간 사나운 개와 해결해야 할 미로가 등장하는 잔잔한 부조리극을 선보입니다.
Leeum Museum of Art presents 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘬, the most extensive survey exhibition of one of Korea’s leading contemporary artists, Kim Beom. As his first solo exhibition to take place at home in thirteen years and covering an oeuvre spanning two decades since the 90s, this show offers a long-awaited opportunity to encounter more than seventy works from his early canvas pieces to his signature installation series, as well as his recent design project.
Kim’s work probes the gap between what is seen and what lies beyond to propose new ways of “seeing,” while challenging our common sense, which we take for granted, with his unassuming artistic approach and deadpan humor. Featuring objects from the classroom, instructions on how to become a rock, a ferocious dog running off to nowhere, and a maze to solve, the exhibition presents an absurdist drama in the face of a society racing against time and overflowing with audiovisual noise.
