'Adelaide Installations' is a project developed by the Art Gallery of South Australia as the visual arts program of the 1994 Adelaide Festival. It is comprised of three parallel components, each drawn together by a leading Australian curator.
Alison Caroll's Beyond the Material World includes works by eight artists from North and South East Asia. Fifteen leading Australian artists are involved in the 1994 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art, curated by John Barett-Lennard, and Moving Sands: forward momentum, curated by Doreen Mellor, involves four sand-based ground sculptures and performances created by seventeen Aboriginal artists.
